¡Pura Vida!

(pictures numbered from left to right, top to bottom) This is Rachel writing! Cana and I have been in San Jose for 5 days and we have just finished orientation with LASP. The first day we enjoyed relaxing at a retreat center in San Jose with our cohort and praying for the upcoming semester (Picture #5). For me, this was a great time to refocus and to realize what goals I have for this semester, and to feel an overwhelming sense of peace and confidence in God's faithfulness during this semester. The next day we met our host families and spent the afternoon and evening with them. Both of us are enjoying and adjusting to living with our host families, and sharing in the Costa Rican home culture. We both love cafecito(a time in the afternoon to chat and drink coffee with friends and family) however I usually get tea instead of coffee. :) We'll see if that changes! Our cohort also spent time on Thursday exploring the city of San Jose, and practicing using the public transportation systems (Pictures #1,3,4). The city is very large, full of busy people and felt very alive, even in the morning when we visited. The LASP site where we will be doing classes is also very beautiful! We got to tour the facility and see the library and the amazing gardens as well (Pictures #2,6). Our classes start Monday and we are both excited to officially begin the academic part of our semester!
